I have submitted a donation for the S. Joseph’s Hospice “Dancing Under the Stars Gala” Auction, which will take place November 2nd, at Degroots in Sarnia. Tickets are on sale at the Hospice for $100 per person.

My piece is some thing unique. Earlier this year I spent a month designing, drawing, and painting a watercolour scene depicting the Canadian Olympic Golden Goal Celebration… but eventually had to abort the painting. When handling watercolours, you have to be sure of every colour and brush stroke that you make. Even though I spent so much time painting it… I made a mistake while working on the crowd – and I couldn’t correct it.

I don’t normally show off my failed attempts at artwork – and I would never sell one. However, I was approached with the possibility of donating something ‘unique’ to this cause, and I thought that this had some potential. There is still a lot of redeeming qualities in the work. The main focus of the painting was completed. While the background and ice surface were never completed there is still some outstanding detail within the players themselves. I still believe that there should be some interest in this work… the content… and even in the fact that it’s a rare, one of a kind Slotwinski painting unlike any other.
